  The Seat of Motivation : The fake JW heart

  i realised the other day how weird it is that jw's are taught that the heart and mind are seperate.

  by enlarge the mind is satans world, its influence, your questions, doubts and unreliable thinking... all this takes place there, the heart is your seat of motivation, its what interacts with god when he opens it up, its where you talk to him from and where your good and bad motives arise (contradictory) but your heart cant be trusted (contradictory.).

  either way, the jw's potray a seperation of heart and mind.

  I agree with you 100%. This part especially:

  Ok so now we go to the mind. Is your mind split in half? The mind AND a figurative heart? Of course it is not! I think this is a psychological ploy for control. For every doubt, fear, bad feeling, questioning, apostate website that passes through your thought process, they make you treat that as the worldly independant thinking in your "mind". The feeling of comradrie you get singing in an assembly (when you are a sucker for the sales pitch) , the feeling you get from placing a magazine, the love you have for your friends, the other JW's.. the prayers to god, the talks, your answers... these all come from "your heart." Whenever they refer to information as seeds, apostate seeds will 'plant in your mind' but the ministry work plants seeds in peoples 'hearts'.

  What utter bullshit. I really dont think this is a small matter. The heart and mind is obviously the same entity, its YOU. They are just associating negative thoughts with the "mind" and positive with the made up "heart". I think this is intentional, a deep psychological tactic. It is also very, very damaging. YOu begin to have an inner dialogue, an inner turmoil. The heart v the mind. I remember it as a JW.

  You end up not trusting your own mind, infact you are told to not lean upon your own understanding! But they know this doesnt really add up, so just to make sure and cover all the bases (been as its one entity) they reaffirm the heart is also treacherous... leaving people totally convinced they cant trust themselves, either in mind or heart and therefore hand over their minds to....... the financial discreet shareholders.

  It makes me wonder of they have a much better understanding of psychology and thought reform than we give them credit for.

  In the past year there are 5 who have walked away in the local congregation. There have been no baptisms that I know of.

  Every time a bond is created, it is quickly cut off by reasoning such as, “this is God’s organization”, “to where will one go”, “God has always had an organization – be it kingdoms or physical organizations”.

  These are exactly the things my husband kept saying when I first spoke to him. These are thought stoppers. It may seem as though what you're saying isn't going in but it is; the key is to ask questions and know when to back off and let her think. I went through this process with my husband and continued attending meetings with him. It took months but in the end the questions combined with what he was seeing and hearing first hand at the hall woke him up; he's out now too.

  hello, i am doing some research on 1975 again, and i came across this on a couple different sites:.

  are we to assume from this study that the battle of armageddon will be all over by the autumn of 1975, and the long-looked-for thousand-year reign of christ will begin by then?

  possibly, but we wait to see how closely the seventh thousand-year period of man's existence coincides with the sabbathlike thousand-year reign of christ.

  i know this is a few months old.

  but i think it's profound to people that still think like the wt trained them to think.

  even after coming out of the wt, they still feel that all christians believe that they alone have the true religion or denomination.

  i am happy to announce that today marks 22 years of married bliss to the most beautiful girl on earth.

  my lovely wife was always being harassed by the local overlords for wearing too much makeup, having her hair too wild, and for not being submissive to them.

  when we began dating the overlords pressured me to get her to change.

  when i was in beffel, i was asked to stock check their collection of magazines, going back to their first uk prints.

  they wanted room and so asked me to throw out all but 2 copies of every magazine.

  the irony was, this was the loft space, it was huge and empty and they didnt need the room.

  Yeah, some crazy stuff right there. I had elderly JW relatives who are now dead who wouldn't have aluminium pans as recently as 10-20 years ago because of what the borg had printed.

  A retired semi-professional footballer is suing the Baptist church for £10m, claiming the 19 years he spent as a "fervent evangelist" ruined his chances of playing for Manchester United.

  According to the London Evening Standard, 46-year-old Arquimedes Nganga, who currently lives in Forest Hill, London, but used to play for a third division side in his native Portugal, quit the sport at the age of 25, two years after he converted to the Baptist faith. He believes he could have earned £20,000 a week, despite never making more than £200 a month playing semi-professionally.

  "I could definitely have had a long career in the Premiership," Nganga said. "I see many players playing today who I am not inferior to – and perhaps even better than. Most midfielders are either defensive or attacking but I was both. I had something new."

  Nganga has filed papers at the high court, accusing the leaders of the Baptist Union of Great Britain of destroying his social life, causing him "psychological harm" and defrauding him of money through compulsory donations.

  The church said it will vigorously contest the claim.
